In considering times for a long distance challenge (for example the Four County Tops) what sort of pace per mile do people estimate in % terms compared to pace per mile in an AL race.

So if you do an AL race average 11minute miles how much extra % wise would you estimate on an long distance challenge?

I don't think on %'s or times but run a steady pace on the flat and down hills and unless it's a good path and staedy climb I tend to power walk fast and eat on the climbs, this gives the body a bit of recovery time and works different muscles. To run any LDC with lots of climbing would be very difficult so remember that your pace at the end will reap a better position if you are still running strong.

I would suggest the best plan is to get round your first LDC and enjoy it. If you have lots left in your legs you will know to go faster next time.
