Chris, good choice of race, you'll love it.

In answer to your queries, a small group of slower runners have set off (I think) 30 minutes before the main field....or it might have been an hour, can't remember. The advantage is obviously not having to worry about time-outs, the disadvantage is nobody to follow for quite a while!!

Re your second question, the race starts by the cafe, heads initially up the main Carding Mill path but then goes left and, as you correctly state, up past Light Spout waterfall.

Obviously, I'm not aware of your speed, but I'd say the only cut-off most have to "worry" about is the first one. Get through that fine and they seem to get easier as they go on.

    Enjoy!!!

    Hi Chris,

Good luck on the Stretton, it's a fabulous race, you'll enjoy it. As Mr1470 says, you shouldn't have any problems with the cut off, I'm usually toward the back of the field at the start and everyone gets through the first checkpoint OK.

Cheers for the info, i hoped that this was the route, as i did a trial run yesterday, got as far as the lawley and didn't feel too bad. A bit stiff now though!!
Did keep checking the watch at checkpoint locations and at yesterdays pace should be ok, will prob have to go a little slower if i'm going to do those extra few miles back to the long mynd.
The route is fantastic, i really enjoyed it, looking forward to it now

Those "extra few miles back to the long mynd" are hard! Once you've crossed the fields back to the other side of the valley (boring but necessary) there is a gradual but seemingly interminable climb.

Big thanks to organiser and marshalls/helpers today. A nice day to be out marshalling . It was a bit warm but with the sun you get the views and they were pretty good today and certainly worth a bit of sweat.

I think the climb up and run back down The Lawley was definitely the highlight of the run for me though

I'd also like to thank the organisers and marshalls, it was a great race.
Decided to start with the main field in the end, set off a bit quick and then paid for it after the Lawley. That last climb was bloody hard, well pleased to have got inside 3.30 though.
