    British V50 Teams.

Asking around at Slieve Bearnagh, there were clubs who had three V50 runners and we talked about having a V50 Team grouping. This is completely unofficial, low-key, and just for interest between ourselves, and in no way trying to interfere with the current British Championship set-up.
Three races to count, three runners in a team, and hopefully a completely informal bring-your-own-prize bottle/cake effort at Y Garn, the final event.
Not a remote thought of awarding any medals. All just for interest, nothing more.
At Slieve Bearnagh, Mourne Runners scored 55, Eryri scored 64, Pennine scored 52, Clayton scored 45, Dark Peak scored 27.

At Stuc a Chroin four clubs had three counters for this unofficial, between ourselves British V50 Team grouping. Three clubs were from Scotland, with only one travelling club - a reluctance to travel for the British Championships?
    At Stuc a Chroin:-
    DPFR - 12pts - counters 3,4,17 = 22pts
    Fife - 9pts - counters 10,11,35 = 56pts
    Ochil 8pts - counters 2,34,41 = 77pts
    Carnethy 7pts - counters 49,51,59 = 159pts

    After two events,
    DPFR - 24pts
    Fife and Clayton - 9pts
    Ochil and Pennine - 8pts
    Carnethy and Eryri - 7pts
    Mourne - 6pts

This is only for interest, one short, one long, one medium race to count. At Y Garn there'll be an informal, bring along a prize gathering.

    Re: British V50 Teams.

At Tebay there were 83 V50+ runners, and 10 clubs had a team of 3. These were all from the home country.

    At Tebay:- DPFR - 12pts - counters 2,12,20 = 34pts
    Clayton - 9pts - counters 6,13,21 = 40pts
    Rossendale 8pts - counters 3,19,45 = 67pts
    Pennine 7pts - counters 10.24,37 = 71pts
    Ilkley 6pts - counters 14,28,39 = 81pts
    Horwich 5pts - counters 17,34,36 = 87pts
    CFR 4pts- counters 8,48,52 = 108pts
    Todmorden 3pts- counters 7,66,75 = 148pts
    Bingley 2pts- counters 54,59,62 = 175pts
    Keswick 1pt - counters 68,69,83 = 220pts

    After three events,
    DPFR - 36
    Clayton - 18
    Pennine- 15
    Fife - 9
    Ochil and Rossendale - 8
    Carnethy and Eryri - 7
    Mourne and Ilkley- 6
    Horwich 5
    CFR 4
    Todmorden 3
    Bingley 2
    Keswick 1

I'm not sure how much travelling support there will be for Y Garn, as many Championship issues are now decided, and the attraction of the Lakeland Classic race at Borrowdale.Instead of a rather meaningless "prize ceremony", please can any V50 (and anyone else...) runners bring along an end-of-series picnic - following the superb Pennine example at Tebay.
This is completely unofficial, just between ourselves, for interest.

    Re: British V50 Teams.

    Dave,

Yes, we did rather enjoy our picnic at Tebay - in fact we did the same at Stretton Hills (not so much fun in the rain!)

Not sure how many of us are going to Y Garn, though. I'll be at Borrowdale as I missed the other 2 British counters, unfortunately.

    Re: British V50 Teams.

An extremely low turnout at Y Garn in all categories, 78 men starting, of which 25 were V50 and over. Is this the lowest number of entrants for some long time? Many understandable reasons for people not travelling, but a shame for the oganisers, who had put in so much effort to stage an excellent event.
What to do about the the British Championships might need some thought - 78 male runners suggests that the current set-up doesn't work.

At Y Garn - only two V50 teams, DPFR and Eryri.
Final V50 Team positions.(all unofficial and only for interest...)
    DPFR - 36
    Clayton - 18
    Eryri 16
    Pennine- 15
    Fife - 9
    Ochil and Rossendale - 8
    Carnethy 7
    Mourne and Ilkley- 6
    Horwich 5
    CFR 4
    Todmorden 3
    Bingley 2
    Keswick 1

    Re: British V50 Teams.

With the current format the last race will often be poorly attended, unless a real classic like a lakeland long. One bad run at the un repeated distances and its Brits over, so high dop out rate, also most categories were about decided as we've already raced once at each distance before this one.
