Is the skins compression sportswear of benefit for fell running long distances or just a drain on resources?
Has anyone tried them?

Hi Stagger. Given my position in the local (to Stainland) running retail trade I am aware that one of your club collegues, bought a pair of skins last Friday. She wore them for the first time to do the Hobble on Saturday and is absolutely amazed at how good her legs felt at the end. I have worm them my selves for a few weeks and am pretty certain they are much more than a gimmick.
Ive been thinking of getting some. Any other runners have any experience of them? The blurb sounds a bit unlikely:
Improves recovery by 30%
Increases time to exhaustion by 30%
Improves endurance by 15%
Surely not...but do they have any effect?
chatted to the owner/worker of a local running shop, and he says that they are becoming very popular through word of mouth....especially with fellrunners
However at nearly one hundred english pounds for shorts and top, that could tear as easy as anything else if you deck it whilst out running. i dont think i will be bothering just yet
also...IF they improve performance as well as recovery, does it mean that you would revert to a S**T runner if you stopped wearing them
Hard Work, Hard Training and Suffering...Race Easy
I like them, I feel they do give a small improvement but not to the figures above.
I have the skins and a pair of Uniqlo (off ebay) these are better than the skins for support.
I skins are cooler for racing but do not have a draw string, just elastic waist band which rolls down due the Tetley tyre around my middle..
Hope this helps.
