    First race advice and kit

Hi Fell Runners. I've done plenty of road, off-road running and mountain walking, but never a fell race.
I have the Otley Chevin race in June in mind as first race as it's 5 mins from home, but have a question about kit:
I've read much about minimum kit needed, but for such a short race (3miles?) in summer would the organisers really insist on full waterproofs?

Also, any recommendations for my next race (maybe a longer one) in North or West Yorkshire?

    thanks,

Chevin won't require any kit. The FRA recommend that runners take along to all races all sorts of gear but, as I understand it, its only category A long and medium fell races that have to insist on certain kit being carried. Chevin is an A race (ie its got a lot of climb in it relative to its length) but its an AS (ie short; less than 6 miles). Any race can impose kit requirements if they want to though (eg having to carry a mobile phone at the Edale Skyline).

Don't forget safety pins and an orgami book!
