    Minimal trail shoes.

I am looking for a "minimalist" trail shoe, light, without the bells and whistles that most have, sometims less is more. I think is a good choice http://www.pearlizumi.com/product.ph...uct_id=1237489 . Any other recommendations?

You could always try the F-Lite 230, this retails at £70 compared to $115 and is lighter in weight 230g compared to 255g.

Best advise is to go to a specialist running store and try on different makes and styles.

I think the pearls look okay but If it's the minimal route you want to take stay away from shoes that have more padding in the heel. I've never ran f-lites but I agree they do look good, also perhaps Walsh raids, built on a level platform also look pretty minimal.

I have a pair of the New Balance 840 and I think they are the most comfortable off road shoes I've worn bar none. I wear them for everything off road from XC to fell races. They are lighter than other trail shoes I've had in the past but haven't tried that many of the more recent models.

The only thing I would say is that they aren't very grippy on rock, particularly the smoother stuff such as slate, and polished volcanic rocks.

They both look like they have quite built up heels and a lot of support/cushioning which is the opposite of what you want when you go down the minimal route. On the plus side having not much in the way of an upper makes them a lot lighter...

I got a pair of karrimor prorun which are fine. Low profile, not much cushioning. The grips aren't great, but are ok for running round Pendle.

I've got them (the PI XC). They are light (but there are lighter), fit my feet very well, very little cushioning or support (a good thing), but very little grip / traction too. They are great on the farm roads I often run on, except on hills.

The Inov8 230s are lighter but also appear to not have much tread, if that matters.

I have been running a lot recently in the Inov8 Xtalons, which are even lighter and have great traction. I'll probably switch to something else once trails dry out (very muddy now) and harden.

Maybe the New Balance 800/840 or the InoV X-Talons/F-Lite 230 PK are a good solution. What do you think?
