Mobile Phones to Uncover Sonic Secret: an Acoustics project
A team from the Acoustics Research Centre hope to discover how and why people react the way they do to the sound around them. The team is using a revolutionary combination of mobile phone technologies to allow members of the public to carry out sound surveys themselves, something that until now had not been possible.
The project 'Sound Around You', funded by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council), aims to gather an unprecedented amount of sound environment research data by using the latest mobile and computing technology to understand a person's relationship with their sonic environment.
