    Keswick 40 miler this Sat

To celebrate my 40th year, at 8am prompt this Saturday myself and a few others are running 40miles over the fells. It's not so much a challenge, rather just a few mates having a trot round/get together. Some parts will be walking to cater for people who arent runners but still want to get involved.

Anybody wishing for a long but easy day out just needs to turn up at the Moot Hall for 8am.

Route - Nowt really high or steep
    Keswick-Watendlath- Greenup-Easedale- Grasmere
    Helm crag (walking)
Dunmail bottom to Glenridding (via tarn)
Glenridding - sticks pass - Dodds north to threlkeld
Threlkeld up to Blencathra Centre then drop down to old railway line and into keswick.
    40miles. 10/11 hours

Well done BA on getting round in 9:49. Thoroughly enjoyed myself yesterday, met a colourful friendly bunch of characters, even though they were mostly road runners. Plenty of tea and cake stops. Looking forward to next year and that extra 1 mile. Get some well earned rest and good luck for Edinburgh.

It was my 40th as well this weekend. I went for a more modest, but still highly enjoyable, run around the Langdale Horseshoe with my friends from Saddleworth runners.
Well done on your run, how's your adaption to middle age going?

I think we met you on the way to Angle Tarn, we were on the Old County Tops, hope you had a good day, the weather was a bit mixed.

Hi yes - that would have been us. We got drenched between Bowfell and the Crinkles - it was like someone was throwing buckets of water at us . We were feeling really sorry for you folk on the old county tops as that happened.
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your round anyway.
We had forgotten when we set off about the Old Counties race and we did talk afterwards about the thread that has been on the forum lately about running along race routes when not entered, but we had no intention of doing the other 30 miles of the route , and hopefully we didn't get in anyones way.

A belated Happy Birthday to you.
I intend to enjoy life even more now I'm getting on a bit, than i did before, though that may be a struggle TBH as I have had a ball since I took up sport in my late teens.

Thousand thanks to Bobert for keeping me company for 9hrs 46 minutes on Saturday. Hope you didnt mind the 3miles of tarmac?
Was the longest run/walk Ive ever done and i really can't imagine doing 11/13 hours more including much steeper ground if I am to have a go at the BGR.
