    Lancashire Fell Championship

    LANCASHIRE JUNIOR FELL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009


    SATURDAY 22nd AUG 09


    RACES START 1PM


    INCORPORATED INTO THE

    DARWEND GALA FRA JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP RACES



    RACES & PRIZES FOR AGES U12, U14, U16, U18 & U23


    (UNDER 16 AND ABOVE WILL RUN IN THE SENIOR RACE AT 2.30 pm)


    APPROPRIATE RACE DISTANCE FOR EACH AGE CATEGORIES



    BOLD VENTURE PARK, DARWEN (GR 689219)


    £2 entry fee by pre-entry or on the day








    The Lancashire Championships is open to all athletes who have a Lancashire Qualification which may be acquired as follows:-
    a) by BIRTH or
    b) by NINE MONTHS CONTINUOUS RESIDENCE IN THE COUNTY OF LANCASHIRE IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THESE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
    The County boundary is the current geographical boundary of Lancashire and includes the Isle of Man.

    Lancashire Medals FOR;

    1st 3 U12, U14, U16, U18, & U23 Boys & Girls

    Does Oldham count as Lancashire. My post code say lancs but last year they said i was yorkshire
    Trying to plod up hills every day slightly faster than the day before

    You are most likely to be Greater Manchester if you are Oldham.

    Used to be Lancs until boundary changes in the 1970s.

    Actually used to be Yorkshire. And if you look at Tom you can tell!

    But there isnt a Greater Manchester champs so when i asked they said it was Lancashire

    It's up to each County AA to arrange their own. You need to ask Roadrunner if he can use his influence - Rivington would pe perfect as it already has Junior and Senior races.

    Lancs have up to U23 - strange no Senior Champs.

    Yorkshire have every age group from u12 to senior

    The town of Oldham was in Lancashire until 1889 when it was designated a County Borough which meant it was effectively independent although it remained within Lancashire for some administrative purposes until 1974 when it became part of Greater Manchester. The confusion arises because Saddleworth and some other parts of what now comprises the Oldham Metropolitan Borough were in the West Riding of Yorkshire prior to 1974.
