    Coniston Old Man Tri

Never sure whether this should go into the 'other races' or here, as it does involve a fell race at the end.
Consiton Old Man Tri, Sunday 7/6.

Looks to be an awesome event, only a few of us signed up for the first one.
Tis always a shame we are so lucky that we always have many many races on all the time, and I know that this clashes with Ennerdale (and loads of others) on Saturday (well unless there are any nutters wanting to do the double over the weekend).
Also the bike is over Wrynose and Hardnott, so some nice hills to amble over. And a 2000m swim in Coniston, hopefully this time not having to avoid Bluebird (not the beer).
So come on, roll up roll up for a new challenge.
    See you there maybe.

I entered this one almost as soon as I heard about it... looks TOUGH and having recce'd the run and a quick look at the cycle route, I've seen nothing to make me change my mind!!!

It's the only tri I'm doing this year and looks like a year's worth in one day!!

I have to say, I'm a bit disturbed by the fact there's only thirty odd entered!!??

What does that say about it?

    Hi Guys
A classic or soon to become.
I reckon maybe lack of advertising might have been a factor.
Also the traditional tri possie don't like these sort of races, I guess it's only a few who are tempted. Mostly for fell-runners facing a new challenge (if most clubs are like Tod Harriers then maybe the numbers are increasing?), and I reckon (Mark at Kudu please note!) once this race is known about in the FR community, and people can plan it in their diary, then it won't be long before it's another Lakes tri classic.
Looking forward to it, bring it on.

Looks really good, would have loved to have done it, possibly done enough biking and definatley running up to now, no OW swimming done this season yet but having said all that have now planned a family trip down south that weekend

Enjoy, certainly looks a good one, let us know how you get on Simon

    Re: Coniston Old Man Tri

I've not had the chance to OW swim this year and can't see me getting the chance before a week on Saturday.

Mrs Crumbly meant to be doing the run as part of a team so should be a good day, but it's gonna hurt... oh yes.

Got silly gears on my road bike (Compact on the front and MTB cassette giving a lowest gear of 34 / 32. Almost embarrassing and looks daft, but every little helps.

I'll put something on here after the event.

I've just entered this...and erm, Day in Lakes plus Helvellyn tri....probably a mistake but hey ho

no doubt say hello on the start line as there's only a handful of deluded fools doing it !

probably be the last we see of any fellow competitors looking at the course an all

    best of luck
