I did Wakefield years ago because they reckoned it was the fastest course in Europe. It wasn't, it was very twisty in places. It got a reputation because a Kenyan ran 27.57 in 1999. It now gets over 1000 runners because of this but last year's winning time was over 32 min. A few courses have got dubious reputations like this. Alsager 5 and The Four Villages Half Marathon to name two.

Yeah I did the Wakefield 10K last year - ran an unspectacular time, but enjoyed it. The reason the winning time was over 32:00 was that the National 12-stage relays at Birmingham were on the same weekend. I'm just aiming to beat last year's time on Sunday.
