Yep, that's the only summit forgot about that one. Although In his Wainwright's favourites book he does write about not climbing to High Man on Pillar Rock (although not a true summit), and takes consolation for failure for having survived 80 years accident free.

"It has been of long time ambition of mine, never satisfied, to stand on the top of High Man.."

So Julia Bradbury scaled to the top of Helm Crag. Does that mean she has done 1 more Wainwright than Wainwright?

Possibly, assuming she's done all the others!

I did them all as a child, then did them all again with my wife. Now I'm keeping tally of which ones I've run up, and which ones the children have climbed! The summit I've done most is Pike O'Blisco - not least 'cos it's at the end of the Langdale Horseshoe!

    Re: The Wainwrights.

Bout time someone else had a go at doing them all at once.

Been a few years since Jos had his week's holiday.

I was lucky enough to help Alan Heaton on his Wainwrights Round for 2 part-days back in 1985. Alan developed a septic toe and had to take a full day off to visit Keswick hospital for treatment. No doubt they told him to go home and rest it, so he promptly did another 4 days of around 50 miles each, mostly in road shoes.

    A very hard man indeed.

And Mr Wainwright, in case you're listening, we had plenty of time to look around and admire the views; so did Jos judging from the brilliant little pamphlet (available from Rathbones) recording his week of endeavour.

Hope they've still got some in stock Iain.

Also I have Alan's notes of his round in 1985 somewhere; very, very understated.

Yes, in "Jos Naylor MBE Was Here" referred to in post #14 above, usually available in Rathbones in Keswick. They may have a website?

Think there may be a link in the Best Books thread on the General Fellrunning Issues page.

Hopefully, Bobert will report back on hos expedition to secure a copy.

There again he might buy up all the stock for re-sale.....
