Best beans

I was always a Heinz man as a boy (err, is that a mixed metaphor?) Since moving oop North I've converted to Co-op, which are excellent and cheaper than Heinz. However, I'm now trialing Tesco Value and finding them to my liking, especially in these recession-affected times Any thoughts on your favourite beans fellow forumites? Also any top-rated toppings you can suggest?

Has to be Heinz. My favourite: melted cheese on the toast, curry powder, dried herbs and extra chilli powder in the beans. Don't do this to me - I'm trying to keep the weight off until tomorrow's carboloading.

Always been a heinz kinda guy until my mum one day decided to buy branston beans instead. They are actually ok really and unless your told you wouldnt notice the difference.

I think sainsburys do their own 'basics' beans but im yet to try those yet. Alot of people seem put off but the chearer ownbrand stuff but all of it (sainsburys anyway) is actually made by the leading brands anyway just with cheaper packaging.

Derby? I thought you meant "proper" south i.e. south of Watford Gap!

Heinz for me, cooked until they are mushy on white toast (none of that noncy wholegrain), grated cheddar and lashings of HP sauce.


Remember buying some Chocolate Baked Beans from Asda (I'm a sucker for anything new), they were shite!

Take it from me, having lived down south for a long time (before coming to my senses), Derby is the north to anyone living down there. Way north in fact!

Now that i know things better I'd still probably just about call Derbyshire the north (the north of Derbyshire definitely is) - the north probably starts there in fact.

As for beans, Heinz no question.
