    Rob, you must mean SO200209.

PS: If there is an easterly wind blowing is it feasible to run E-W?

Reckoned to be easier W/E, prevailing wind tends to be W/SW and the easiest terrain is in the east, just steady ridge running in the main. The western third is much tougher underfoot and has most of the climbing. If you want a challenge however.......?

I fear the SWT is Robs idea of a 'training run' .
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Toffer, It might be better to get the good running out of the way first when the legs are still flexible and then deal with the rough stuff later.

Molehill, that is exactly what I thought and decided not to start with him.

Actually, the real reason why the W/E option is preferred is that at least you can get a beer at the end in the cellar at Llanthony. At the western end there is nothing apart from youths from the Swansea valley torching cars and doing drugs

...and how can any training run be complete without climbing Fan Gyhirych from the west?

Yiannis, he did mention you were starting earlier than him, and I don't blame you the way Robs running at the moment !!

The only time ever I parked at the western end I was struck by the large number of dodgy looking motorbikes screaming up the pass. Now I understand, thanks.

Yes that's the spot. Is it possible to park a car there?
