    Beginners Fell training.

    Hi there,

what is the best way to start training for fell races, i know your gonna say just go uphill, but i find going up hill for more than 200 metres is killing me, and i stop and walk back down, will interval training help, any advice welcome, as i have done two very slow fell races Gravy Pud 1hour and Charlesworth 37mins and on both occasions i walked up the hills.

By the sounds of things you've been trying to run up the hills?

Well to get 200 meters os pretty good if your a beginner.

Running up hill isnt easy, the more you do it in theory the easier it will get.

Try just walking the hills for now, maybe a little faster than normal walking pace but you'll have to find the pace thats comfortable for you.

Hill reps works well for imrpoving your uphill stamina - not the most fun training but ive tried it twice and i believe the sessions helped me alot!
