    Fell Running Training

What is the typical weekly training programme for fell running, to improve speed and stamina.

    If i could train regularly.

    I'd have....

    A hill rep session,
A long run/race at the weekend,
A medium distance run - maybe a club run,
and some form of speed session

I'm now converted to the benefits of LSD with a bit of speed here and there.

    Re: Fell Running Training

I do a regular weekly pattern of hill repeats, threshold run and a long run.

Hill repeat...normally 2 mins hard, 1 min easy, repeated to top of hill. easy run back down. Probably around 10 hard reps in total.

Threshold run...normally 20 mins continuous uphill. Try to keep a hard but steady pace.

Long run - normally 15-20 miles with 4000 or 5000 ft of climbing.

If i'm training for a longer race...then tend to do longer intervals at a slower pace and longer/slower threshold runs. Shorter races would be the opposite.

I returned to LSD in Sept 2007, my fitness and race positions improved over the next year.

At the start of 2009 I gradually drifted back into speed work and have been injured since April

I am running again now, but keeping up with the group on a Club night sets me back days.

Frequent but moderate workouts on a consistent basis are the key to success

3-5 sessions of heavy drinking are quite helpful too.....

On the subject of threshold runs, what % or people max HR is considered threshold?
