    Emergency food

What do forumites recommend in the way of emergency food for the longer races such as Wasdale, Borrowdale, etc.?
I don't normally carry very much, e.g. a satsuma, but figure the kit checks could be quite stringent at Borrowdale on Saturday.

Full English, a Sunday Roast and Apple Crumble for me
I'll probably take a mars bar, some peanuts and a gel or two.

Gels never really work for me . I find bog standard kendal mint cake gives me a real energy boost when I'm flagging , but , it does get a bit sickly .

Last Lakeland race I did, I took a packet of cheese and pickle sandwiches along with a banana, chocolate and gels. Mind you, I don't whizz round, I like to make a proper day out of it.

Now you're talking, chuck in a bottle of wine for hydration and jobs a good 'un

Trouble is I'd need a bl**dy picnic hamper to carry it in!
