    FRA home page pictures!!!!

No offence to the guy running on the front page of the FRA web site but surely we could come up with a forum recomendation for a better picture that depicts fell running . I mean he looks like he's running down a farm track rather than over a fell for a start! Equally the picture of the mountain is a bit crap too isn't it?

Any ideas that we can shove Brett's way?

There was a belter doing the rounds on here a while ago, iirc from Borrowdale race. Runners all over the fell taking different lines

That picture is towards the lower end of the Stoneycroft Mine road at the finish of the Causey Pike race in the Newlands Valley. Fell terrain does not get much more "pukka" than around there. It's the angle of the shot that does not do it justice.

Perhaps a photograph of you (WD), I and Mr Breeze all smoking Cuban cigars with our litter strewn across the fell in front of us? Maybe a cairn either side with some illuminous tape?

The pics from Edale last year were epic!
Digging back into the archives I recall a smashing b/w pic of Duncan Overton somewhere (?Ennerdale) in the lakes that evoked the sensation of the high fells...it was front cover pic so Breezie should know it.

Ah! Found it!. It was actually Langdale on the cover of the Spring '87 issue. However, whilst looking for it I found some better ones.
Summer 87 had a fab picture of the Bens of Jura with an (un-named) runner actually smiling on what looks like a beastly hot day.
And then Sept 90 has an epic pic of Chris Lyon grinding up the big climb at Clitheroe with an expression akin to the gritted-teeth visage of Big Mig Indurain on the last stages of Alpe Duez!
There's something about those b/w shots that capture the atmosphere better than colour.
