    Care to join me?

Gonna take my first tentative steps on the hills again, and I'm aiming for a week Sunday (16th?).

Nothing major, just to the top of Pendle (Barley to trig, via Pendle Fell Race route), back down (via last descent of ToP). If I'm feeling okay, I want to explore a path that goes off into the trees on the right at the head of the last reservoir before Barley.

Got a feeling this will curl up and round to give an alternative route to the top of Geronimo. And then of course, we've got to come down again!

Gonna be a fairly steady pace, and I will be prepared to bin it early if my knee starts acting up.

Yep, there are paths that cross the lower res at both head and tail; both lead up to the top of Fell wood (the large plantation that yuo can see from the reservoir track). A footpath then leads west, along the skyline, whereby you could drop down geronimo if you want to.

A more interesting route off pendle (albeit slightly longer) is to take the concessionary path (cairned, then briefly stone slabbed) that heads WSW from the trig. this route crosses then follows ogden clough. Ultimately the track widens out and ends up at the Nick, but if you branch off early yuo can get onto Spence Moor and follow the aforementioned path along the top of Fell Wood. It then angles down to a footbridge that puts you onto the reservoir track just before Barley (roughly where the old waterworks building is).

I like that route off Pendle but it might be a bridge too far for me. For now...

    Fair enough.

If your knee is a bit dodgy, i wouldn't be coming down Geronimo anyway!

Mmm, probably right. Might just scout out that route to the top and go back the way I came.

Anyone interested, it'll be 0900(ish) out of Barley car park.

As above: steady pace, not too far. But if you fancy a nice easy trot on Sunday with a bit of company*, come along.

*I can't vouch for the quality!

Just shows what you know, we actually had quite a merry little band of four today! So

Chubbs, Clive, young Mstr Baistow, and I had a nice gentle trot round HTOP, with some sightseeing (genuine, not navigational errors...no, really), and some contingency route planning, in case the RO chooses to divert the route like they did on the FTOP.

Young Scott's descent down Geronimo was a sight to behold. I only caught him near the bottom thanks to a decent slide down the last 20m or so.

Good time had by all, lovely day for it. Will upload Garmin stats for you later guys. Good luck in the race!
