    Navigation Books.

Are there any good books for runners for navigating in the hills/mountains ?. I am aware of the courses the F.R.A. put on which look excellent but the next one i could get to is a way off. I am also a new member of D.P.F.R. would any of you guys have anytime to run thru some basics wheteher that is on a walk or down the pub as i really want to get to grips with navigation as i know it will increase my confidence.

I understand you can still get Mountain Navigation for Runners as a download - possibly via Lakes Runner? (The shop in Ambleside) - I'm sure someone somewhere will post where its available from if I've got it wrong.

'Navigation Techniques for Off-Road Runners' is worth a read.

Think it's generally had some good reviews.

On general mountain navigation, Peter Cliff's book is widely recommended.

Priniciples are the same whether running or walking.
