If you're lucky and you're the right size, you can pick up some cheapo vivo barefoot shoes on amazon - I recently had to return a pair of size 10 dharmas because they were a little too snug for my wide size 10 feet, but they would have cost me £37.50 postage free. The size 11s I ended up with were £60. If you're tempted to buy from the terra plana website, it's dead easy to find a 20% off code, which helps a bit (MVC0909 seem to work at the moment). Not much good for running mind you - not enough grip for me - even on tarmac. Vibram fivefingers? - now THAT'S expensive - quite happy with my £5 aqua shoes (minus insoles) for now thankyou very much.

Just seen an article on the VFF Treks in the Saturday Telegraph magazine, plus another article on barefoot lifestyles in one of the pull out sections*

    Middle England is on it...

*I'm not in any shape or form a telegraph reader, it was at my mum's place

Just take it easy, your feet, calves etc have to adjust to the new freedom
I once did a session on a treadmill barefoot coz i had forgot my trainers.
Felt fine at first until i got off and realised it was like running on a sanding belt and all the skin had been removed from my toes.
I couldnt walk for a week and vowed never to try that again.
Now im running barefoot on grass...its great in the rain.
But now Im thinking more about strengthening my feet etc rather than a work out.

A co-worker who had forgotten his trainers also did that. He said to himself: "If Luc can do it I surely can do it."

If I had been in the gym I would have told him to forget it. He confessed to me later that he got blisters...

Even if you have a good running form and manage avoiding blisters you're not going to like the experience if you're not giving you a chance to adapt. Barefoot running is going to make you a humble person.
