Must thank Chaddy for his 'pep-talk' both on the start line and as I passed him - very motivational.
Tough little course. Little being the key word there. The 12 stage should not be won in anything near under 3 hours, never mind well under. Hate to say this but we should be aiming for something similar to the southerns, where the short leg is 2/3 the length of the long leg, not half. And it should be 6 long, 6 short, especially over today's distance.
Anyway well done to all who ran, hope you all enjoyed it! I did!

I'm sure you can argue that both ways tho, as someone said to me today, "You'd have found nothing out after 4 hours that you haven't found out after 3."

I thought the shorter distance made the racing more exciting and I don't think the short distance in any way detracted from the event. I thought the course was fantastic, the hills really broke it up and made it a pleasure to zip round, though I'm not sure how I'd have felt if I'd had a second lap to do!

I'm not an advocate of either side of the argument, I tihnk you'll find a fairly even split amongst people, depending on how much they want to stand around for hours and how young/quick they are.

I would like to see the Northerns adopt a rotation between short years and longer years, to keep things more interesting and to mix things up a bit; you'll always have your standard long/short mix at the Nationals!

Yeah, you're right to a degree, it shouldn't be the same every year - but today was too short. Anything over 3 hours is fine.
If it had been 6 long 6 short that would have worked i think.
Agree course was very good. Especially for spectating!

Good run today FellHell! Yes Chaddy is highly motivational isn't he!
Not sure if he should have run today given his injury situation! What's the news on that, Chaddy?
Well done to East Cheshire and Wirral for qualifying for the Nationals! Sadly, I won't be there as I'll be on holiday!
