The one I have is a hard floor scrubbing brush. Cost me £1 from Asda. Also doubles up as the one I clean my fell shoes with !!! Makes people wince when they see me use it but it really does work, also a great way of exfoliating !!!

    Re: Recovering from Ultras

Just wondering how old you guys are? If you're younger then your going to find it harder though recovery will be quicker. If you're older, although you'll have greater endurance recovery will be slower. It does make a difference and has a bearing on how to proceed.
Try to be in the 30-40 age group

    Re: Recovering from Ultras

Whoops don`t quite fit into the 30-40 age group at 58 but i do run what maybe thought of as long distances on a regular basis i.e. my LSR ranges between 20-30 miles once a week.

I guess it means that i am not fast but my endurance is not bad.

but nobody knows your body better than you so just tune into it and respond accordingly and good luck, see you at the WHW race.

As to recovery if you are used to something then in my opinion there is nothing to recover from it is the Prep that is the most important aspect in my opinion (which is not worth a lot)
The older I get the Faster I was

Skins are "compression clothing" designed to hasten recovery by aiding venous return and helping to prevent the build up of lactic acid in the muscles.

Brush: i used an old nail brush , i think Denzil used a scrubbing Brush, the harder the better probably, mine seemed to take flakey skin off, didn't know i had so much!!! Maybe i'm moulting!
Skins: recovery clothing , work like the anti dvt socks on long haul flights. One make is Linebreak.com also Nike do them marketed as skins. Not sure which is best. Pacing as you are no doubt aware is critical, you can't go too slow!!

    Talking Re: Recovering from Ultras

Thanks Alf. Did 4 inns today but I'm too tired to do any of these eminently sensible things - I know I'm going to be tossing and turning and turning all night with DOMS so I'm going to neck another glass of two of vino instead.
