    XC Spikes

Ooo this has probably been covered here before...but

am looking for a XC spike...thus

who uses what and what is the general idea on size ? i know trying on many pairs is best...but i am a busy boy and simply dont have the time to traipse round the shops

therefore i currently take size 9 in nike/saucony/inov8 have narrow feet, and would consider myself a medium weight...so whats the advice on sizing and to wear socks or not ?

    cheers in advance

I wear the thin hilly ankle socks.
New balance spikes can be good especially the gold and black onesthat are about 5 years old now and the purpleand yellow about 4 years old. Saucony Kilkenny did me for a season on both track and cross country. Also totakeinto account is the Brooks spikes which tend to be a bit lighter in myopinion but they can be a bit morepricey,
Trying to plod up hills every day slightly faster than the day before

We'll have to agree to disagree even though clearly I am right
I picked up my Brooks spikes for £20. A pair of spikes will last even a regular xc racer a few years, or in my case a decade....

    Re: XC Spikes

I've always raced cross country in track spikes - always preferred them. A couple of seasons back I bought a pair of Saucony Killkenny's, which were really good but one of them got sucked off in the mud..... After that I sold them and bought a pair of Nike Waffle spikes which were much better. Last season I wore Inov-8 talons for the few races I did. This season I'm crocked...

Nike XC from sportsshoes.com £19.95 great fit same size as my road shoes and mudclaws. Quie narrow and I use the decathlon run 400 socks whick are v thin and cheap. Changed the std spikes for 15mm though after a few slips on the first race in them.
