So when do entries open? (Not a serious question). With genuine respect to anyone competing in them seriously and to all involved in organising them, on a personal level my only real interest in the championships is that they make some of the races I want to do harder to enter because they fill up so quickly meaning regular year in year out supporters of races who turn up time after time regardless of conditions etc really have to get their act together early in the year. Thats not a problem for me but it could be if entries are not opened early - I might not be a good runner but I am very keen and I will plan my holidays to make sure I am about for particular races, which is fine if I know I can enter, not so fine if I dont know if I'm in or not until a few weeks before the race. I cant really understand why someone who isn't right up in the top ranks would want to do a particular race only when it is a championship but not in other years - surely a good race is a good race whether its a championship or not?

Duddon's usually the last Saturday in May, isn't it?
I was informed yesterday that the date for Dollar has been changed to July 31st.

1. Even those not at the top still pick up points for their club
2. Fixture clashes. Next year Black Mountains and Scafell probably clash. I've done both, enjoy both, next year I'll do BM's because it's a counter, the year after probably Scafell again..
There's lots of races in the calendar, I try to do as many new races as possible each year. I'm 29, the idea of running the same races for the next 30 odd years doesn't appeal so I like going around the different circuits.
Very few people miss out. It's all quite transparent and plenty of people drop out. Look at Langdale, people are getting in having only just entered, yet this race was full in the Spring.
I can see that the last 2 times Ennerdale was a championship race in 2000 and 2006 there were 207 and 224 runners respectively, compared with an attendance of around 100 for the last three years. Does anyone know if there is a race limit?
The land at the end of our toes goes on and on and on.
