    Over the Hill schedules

I've just started to recce the Over the Hill run and I like what I've seen so far. Trouble is that I'm working 'in the dark' as I don't have any schedules. Does anybody have a 15 hour and/or 12 hour schedule that they could share with me so that I can start building a plan for an attempt? Thanks

I'm doing this solo, onsight & unsupported, so if nobody hears from me for a while I'll be somewhere in the hills above Sedbergh. I'm just going outside, & I may be some time.

I've emailed you with a spreadsheet schedule & some notes on the route - my proposed route & Tony Wimbush's suggestions for improvement on it. I hope to have a go next year, but Tyke & I are planning a joint attempt at the Tan Hill to Kirkstone first for next May Day BH weekend - probably Sunday the 2nd. Anyone wanting to join us put it in your diary!

A quick scan of the registrations gives these as the nearest overall actual times to 12 and 15 hours.

12.40 with summit times as below:

    Start 3.45 AM
    Baugh Fell 5.07
    Gt Shunner 8.22
    Wild Boar 11.00
    Green Bell 12.54
    Middleton 2.23
    Calf 3.22
    Winder 4.05
    Finish 4.25

14-57 with summit times as below:

    start 6.10 am
    Baugh Fell 7.45
    Gt Shunner 11.30
    Wild Boar 14.50
    Green Bell 16.59
    Middleton 18.38
    Calf 19.55
    Winder 20.42
    Finish 21.07

These will include rest times of unknown periods at unknown points which could throw things a bit but I hope they help

Thanks for all your help guys. These figures should let me build towards a serious attempt after a winter of cold, wet feet and chocolate coloured socks.

    Re: Over the Hill schedules

Looking at the actual times Tony posted & comparing them to my Naismith figures, it looks like the going underfoot is reasonable as far as Great Shunner, harder to Middleton, then OK again to the end. That's with no knowledge of the actual ground.

    Re: Over the Hill schedules

Dunno about that Splatcher. The schedules that Tony posted are timings from actual attempts, so without knowing the stories of what was going on on the day it's difficult to read too much into these times. I still reckon that the Baugh Fell - Shunner Fell - Wild Boar Fell legs are the more difficult underfoot and slower going than when you're into the Howgills.
