    Puncture repair patches

Probably a really idiotic question but
I have puncture repair patches that are covered one side by aluminium and the other clear plastic. So I pull them off the aluminium easily enough but can’t work out how to take the clear plastic off. If I wait until the patch is on the tube and try to get the plastic off I usually end up pulling the patch off

So do you just leave the plastic on

Or what is the trick to get it off

How I wish I could get hold of the old fashion patches with no plastic covers!

Hold the patch onto the tube with your thumbs, and then stretch/pull the patch and tube in a few different directions.

That both presses the patch firmly against the tube, and tears the plastic into smithery bits.

I haven't repaired a puncture since I was about 13. Tubes are so cheap now, especially if you buy several at once so I just put a new one in - no hassle and no chance of any leakage from a repair.

I try and get a finger-nail between the rubber patch and plastic, then pull the plastic carefully off...it lifts the patch a little bit, but thats easily secured back down with pressure.
