I'm having trouble getting a connection with this type of strap. I've tried water and a conducting jelly but no luck. Unless my heart rate has plummeted by 40 bpm over the last 10 years! Anyone else had this trouble?

yes I have to either have it unbearable tight or keep my chest inflated out- neither of which work when you are running.
Most times I try it the thing looses my heart rate and assumes I am dead.
I thought it was perhaps being a bit boney?
So no answers yet
no probs with mine, however it might be an idea to check the battery is still ok? if its low on juice it'll struggle to transmit data accurately
Biggest problem for me is putting it on...brrrr it's cold!!

What are you....a southern soft.....oh yeh !
Please dont get the impression I have made a study of this but.... dont polar or someone sell a sports bra with a built in slot for a HRM strap? Maybe that would provide an answer (Not that any of us guys read the adverts for sports bras of course, we just look at the pictures)
You're right they do. I have to say this is the 2nd Polar HR monitor I've had problems with in the last few years and I'm getting a bit hacked off. I had them years ago and they seemed much better then. No trouble at all. Whilst trying to decide what to do, I've bought a monitor from Tescos for £9. It's really ugly and probably won't last long but it seems accurate.
Not sure what to do in the long term.
Cheers for that

I'm now using a suunto T4c which has what suunto call a 'comfort belt' - its very light, the only rigid bit is a small circular pod which holds the battery which sits front and centre of your chest - the contacts themselves are largish soft flexible plastic pads built in to the fabric of the belt itself. So far (two months, touch wood) I dont seem to have had any problems at all with it and it always seems to pick up a signal straight away. Might be worth considering?
