    Recommend me a laptop??

    Please.

Oh and please don't get all computer geeky technical as I won't understand it

My eldest wants a lap top for Birthday/Christmas (yes he's a poor unfortunate who has a December birthday) but I've no idea what to get. I guess it will have to have wireless connectivity apparently they can do their homework online at high school

Anyway with so many to choose from I don't know where to start.

Does anyone know of any particularly good deals at the moment or suggest anything?

Yeah webbooks are small. Is this prezzie a surprise? Or could you get away with an impromptu family outing to PC World to see the reaction? Have a look yourself though.

No idea on what's good or bad - I don't reckon there's much difference between any of them. Cheapest place I've found is www.laptopsdirect.co.uk
They are mainly mail order, but they do have a small showroom as well in Huddersfield.

There's one just for you as well Em...

    It's a surprise yes.

In fact to be fair to him when I asked what do you want for Christmas he said A book, a pair of slippers and a bedside lamp I'm not sure if I should be pleased or worried!
