    Whisky of choice

The thread on tea of choice inspired me and seeing as it's nearly Christmas...

I would like to know what are you favourite drams.

Here are some of mine ( Oz Clarke mode ).

Speyside : light and fruity with notes of sherry.

La phroaig : peaty, smokey sweet, long finish

Bowmore : very similiar to above but more subtle.

Jura : nice and gentle a good intro single malt, but after some of the above a bit placid

Talisker : didn't like this much too harsh

i've tried others but can't rememeber the names

Used to drink JD lots as a kid and as a result can't stand the smell of any hard liquor, it all just smells of alcohol to me, and knocks me sick.

Having said that, IDP shared a drop with me that I tried out of politeness if I'm honest, but really enjoyed it. Some Irish single malt. Any ideas Ian?

Macallan 10 yrs single malt. If times are hard, then Bells. If I'm Flush, Chevas 12 hits the spot.

Probably Connemara...very nice, or Red Breast.

Bunnahabhain is a particular fave of mine.

I know next to nothing about whisky but have certainly tried a few and those hit the spot every time.

Also recommended reading - Iain Banks, "In Search of the Perfect Whisky" (or similar) for more inspiration, should that be required!

    Jura
Old Pulteney - it's got a salty tang to it, bit of an acquired taste, but I like it.
