You know what I think it is with you Lefties out there. You've spent too long reading papers like the Guardian and no time reading the Daily Mail. Living in your own little Liberal cocoon and avoiding stories that might upset your leftie sensibilities. If you'd read the Mail you'd see plenty of stories of how universities and other government institutions monopolise discrimination. Reports where young people with five A grades at A level don't even get an interview at Medical school whilst others with the same or lesser grades get selected on race or political malleability.

So there is political discrimination in choosing students Mr Kay? Glad you're starting to see my side of the argument even though you try to justify it. I hope those youngsters with better grades and denied places on this POLITICAL basis agree.

No-one with the required grades is ever denied a place on any basis, political or otherwise. A few people without the required grades may be given a place if they are otherwise disadvantaged. If ensuring that all people are given equal opportunities is political, then universities are proud to be political.

Mike-T obtained a place at medical school a long time ago, when exam results were supposed to be the main criteria for choosing students. But even then the Universities did their homework on which students were being offered places. What school did they go to, what their parents did for a living and so on. Of course all the doctors who got places are not going to want to believe that some of them got their places through political or social prejudices. But they did as they would have to if the status quo was to remain.
