Thanks for the photo link, Ady. You did fantastically well using a tiny camera with no viewfinder!

just to echo what lantern said
this was one of the best days I've ever had in the Lakes
well organised
friendly, helpful marshals
SUPERB route
beer on the summits!
glorious weather (but not tooo hot)
great company (although still not sure how we missed each other at the start)
and I even had a half-decent run - wasn't flagging too badly towards the end :w00t:
great photos Ady - I will be downloading a few as my record of the day
Scramble the rock face through the glare of morning sun — to run
I heard someone in the pub say it was 4:14, by Philip Pearson, the same guy who holds the 2009 record.
Other 'pub chat' included an update on the beer that had gone AWOL from Knott: apparently the quad bike taking it up the fellside had rolled into a gully.
The beer and the bike were both write-offs, but fortunately the two people riding the bike were uninjured.

Two days on, heels still a bit sore.

Wow what a day had binned it three times before the summit of Blencathra, the heat at that time for me just to much i could not get enough water/Zero in me, Thanks to Tussockface few words he made me dig in prior to last climb up Blencathra.
From Skiddaw house onwards CRAMP of the worst kind got me to the point of one bloke rubbing his elbow down my quads oh the pain was not fun at all, i had vowed never to run again, ever, ever, ever. This cramp kept coming and coming until the end, the tarmac for the last mile or so just did me to the point of wait for this i did even not have my free pint at the end shame on me.
At night 4 of us went for an Indian in Keswick i drank something called water, oh dear.
Many thanks to all for what was a fantastic event, it was just not a good day for me.
Going to try again....

After the baking hot recce, I was expecting something similar.
Sorry you had such a struggle Steve. Getting cramp so early must have made the rest of it a bloody ordeal.
Good to see you while you were still cracking jokes:thumbup:
Reviving an old topic here...
I'm very interested in the fell race version of this in July... In fact so much so, that I'm planning on forgetting about the Snowdon race the week before, and saving myself for this instead.
Is anyone who did the last race (2013?) able to fill me in on the checkpoint details?
The peak tops obviously, but are there others? Is Skiddaw House a checkpoint? Also exactly which tops are included? Great Cockup is one of the beers, but the map on the wanderingangus website is a bit vague and seems to miss it out, and unnecessarily take in Great Calva instead?
If anyone has any info I'd be most grateful. If not... Well I'll probably be there anyway!
