Unbelieveable! Yesterday I had the misfortune to be taken off the hill by KMRT and the coastguard helicopter. I had full kit and used my suvival bag to keep warm. The best £3 or 4 you will ever spend. At no time was I ever cold, don't think it won't happen to you. It might!
When climbing Place Fell on Saturday on the shortened Lakes Mountain 42 I passed a bloke in jeans who seemed more interested in capturing dramatic selfies than his own safety.
I wonder how many people not that aware of fell running look at us in our shorts and vest/T-shirt and small bumbag (they don't know how well equipped we all are!..) and think we are under equipped. I also wonder how many times I've used the phrase 'all part of the fun'...
A favourite story is of a ranger descending to Pen y Pass and stopping a couple of men ascending in smart-casual wear and giving them a bit of a telling off. Turns out they were members of the 1952 Everest mission out for a short walk before a reunion at the Pen y Gwryd.
