I'm well impressed with the OMM Kamleikas - the material is very comfortable to wear, unlike normal gore-tex, Event, etc.
Not had the Atomic ones though, so can't compare
Can anyone offer any comparisons - pros/cons? I need something for long wet days out but also to run in when needed. I think really I need two pairs - one for each scenario but I've not got that much money to splash. Other recommendations welcome.
Montane Pertex trousers do a surprisingly good job in most conditions given how light/packable they are and the fact that they are not "waterproof". I only wear my OMMs when I am going to be out for over 2 hours or so, or if it is pouring down when I leave the house/car. One advantage of wearing windproof/waterproof trousers that is not often mentioned is that it keeps the dirt off your tights, saving on washing.
So OMMs better than Pertex and keep your legs clean. On one hand these will be needed if I'm 'caught out' but also for all-day walks. I'm a little concerned about the wear rate of Gelanots Vs 3 layer Gortex (or similar), should I be?
I've had my OMM over-trousers years, they're excellent, comfy, quite light, pack down well enough. Not convinced they're totally waterproof anymore but legs are almost always wet already when I put them on owing to the shall-I-shan't-I-it'll-stop-in-a-minute-oh-bother-looks-like-ill-have-to-then dilemma. I've never felt cold in them and that's the main thing in my book
Good stuff
another vote for the DT Atomics: waterproof and taped seams so will pass the new rules on body cover and £50 at Sportshoes at the mo.
....it's all downhill from here.
You mean you don't wash your tights after a long run... dear oh dear, how long do you go before you wash your underpants, or do they get special treatment?!!
Seriously though, OMMs recently purchased, after chat with PB staff, very easy to pack, and compact. Managed to get both the Kamleika smock and trousers into the 3l OMM bumbag with room for gloves, hat, flapjack and usual compulsory kit.
PB have 10% off voucher at the moment, very nice for about £80.

If you're not running fast enough, walk instead!!
