'Twas a bloody long walk, Andrew, but good company (Gerry and Dale), the glorious weather and the spectacular scenery made it a bit easier....

Gutted not to get round, (I mean GUTTED) but learnt a lot, had a good time and it's not as though anyone died...

    Well chuffed for Max...

Sorry you couldn't make it Steve, but hope to catch up with you soon.

You too mate, go easy on yourself, BG is a big challenge, everything's got to be right for a successful round

    Be back?

    Not sure about that.....

Incidentally, how many Dark Peakers got round in the end?
we got 4 round in times ranging from 21.40 to 23.10. Yvone also got round but well outside the 24 hours but a big effort on her part.

As Swiss Toni / Mark Smith (who knows a bit about successful and less successful attempts) would say: the hills will always be there

I saw a group of Ilkley Harriers coming through Portinscale...thought they looked very fresh!

It was a real pleasure to help Max, he did brilliantly on that second leg.

Don't be too gutted if you can help it. Don't let the BGR chew you up, just chalk this one up and plan the next one. It's worth writing down exactly what you learned specifically whilst it's fresh (raw, even!) so you take as much out of what just happened as you can.

Let me know when you next go for it and I'll start persuading my three year old to persuade my wife to grant me a pass

Which is, of course, the marvellous thing about all of this endeavour

Exactly Ian....I thought,"How dare you look so bloody fresh!"

As for Max, having trained with him, I knew he was very able, but the weather looked a challenge. Then when I could see from his tracker that about 5 hours to get from Pillar-ish to Keswick, it was looking a bit uncomfortable.

Max, you played a blinder there mate

Mark and Ian, thanks for your wise words. We'll see if there's to be a re-match.
