Interesting time of the night, a certain amount of bravado and posturing!

It could all be down to actually getting there, this is the key issue given road closures and the access by road of Edale

Yes we train in these conditions, usually to and from our doorsteps and in training the pressure is off. In racing there is the cutting down of weight and pushing oneself harder than usual.

Yes plenty of time before the start to make the decision to run it, but in the conditions I am seeing out of my window in Glossop now I would not get my car out of the garage.

I do think that forumites should stop pressurising the RO, I'm sure they have enough to think about.

Again absolutley, Ian and any other RO have so much to do these days. give him space and let him do his "voluntary job"

Don't like his descision or rules? easy go to the pub it's your choice.

Firstly it will not be a race as it should as the front crowd will have to plough through the drifts creating routes for the following runners like myself to ease our way through without expending as much energy thus at the end places/ rankings will not be a true result of a true champs race.
Secondly in todays world of blame culture who really would want to put themselves out as a target to any injured competitor or if the worse came to it any dead competitors family wanting to know why in such attrocious coinditions was their loved one running/walking in an "organised" event.
And last of all as a member of the emergency services myself and a member of a mountain rescue team the last thing we want on an allready manic weekend for us is an "organised" event going ahead that is encouraging people to put themselves into conditions that are nothing short of " life threatening " and stretching rescources from what could be more needy accidents.
Lets show some common sense on the matter like other race organisers this weekend and cancel the race for safetys sake is it really worth possible lives and emergency services lives just to have a run !
I certainly wont be running/walking this event there are plenty more to do later in the year.
Thanks again to Ian for his effort but lets show some thought for the people that will have to risk themselves to help YOU

    Have a nice night
So Sweaty, which bit of Ian's post have you not read/do not understand?
To spell it out, he hasn't made the decision yet, and has clear criteria for doing so, when the time comes.

Those that can, do (organise fell races), those who can't, post on forums.
Even I don't know who The Grump is.

    Agreed!

One day dear TheGrump you might post something I don't agree with-which will really confuse the deluded who think you are me or I am you or we are we or...

Apart from the dozens of RO's who post... usual arrogance...

Whats the point of a forum if its not for people to comment, it works both ways..

Can't see the fuss here to be honest, can't see what more Ian can do..
