    Inov8 Bumbag

Does the ProRace4 bumbag have a separate bladder compartment or does the horizontal baldder have to rough it with the rest of the gear?

I used one for Borrowdale with nearly 2l of drink and all the rest of the kit and it was very comfortable and stable compared to previous fully loaded packs.

Only trouble is, because it's comfortable even when heavy I filled the bladder! Big mistake as I still had nearly 1.5L left at the end - there were plenty of very fresh streams to drink from that tasted a whole lot better than my drink!!!

It was a long old way round to drag an excess 1.5kg that I didn't need - wonder what that would have saved me in time!!!

It'd be great for long runs in the heat though when water's not easy to come by....

I prefer bottles to bladders in the bum bags, though bladders are fine in rucksacks. I took out a Nathan Elite 2V on the Pendle Cloughs, but before I even began, the bungee fastening for my clag broke, which meant running with my jacket around my waist the whole way along.

I am now using the Pro Runner II by a company called LifeVenture which has the best of both worlds: two bottles (easily refillable from a good stream) and a good zipped compartment with 4l capacity. Yet to run with it though. But for £25, can't be bad.

Got the bumbag, well pleased. Comfy item of kit. Weighs a ton with all the water but once on it sits well. Drinking & stopwing the hose took a little learning. It was worth it to survive a particularly dry run on the Nantlle ridge, used both litres and glad of them!

I currently use a RacePro 12 with bladder for long races but find its a bit big. I was wondering about getting either a RacePro 4 (is the tube clip a bit fiddley ?) or the new OMM Ultra (I use the 3L one which is very comfy) - anyone use either?

    Thanks

i use pro 12 for longer, used it last sunday for three peaks trot, it was fine
I use the pro 4 for shorter, only putting 1litre in, still fits other essentials. The only problem, it does seem to slowly loosen and at one point i had to stop and tighten the strap again, its was nearly falling over my arse!! but nice kit

Use the blue OMM 3l bum bag, fits well, comfy, takes all the kit for shorter runs.

Not sure a bumbag that comes loose is a good bumbag?
