VILLAGES'. -Wheelton, Chorley (Not a million miles away from Rivington Pike).
Anybody fancy it, done it in the past or even heard of it haha.
I only discovered it y'day and thought i'd give it a go since its quite local to me.
8.5 mile road race through the villages of Wheelton, Brincall, Withnell...
Re: 25th Sweatshop 'THROUGH TH
November time this one. I've done it once before and its a fairly tough course for a road race. A few steep hills and long drags. Its a good event. Depending on my fitness I may have a trip over.

Right on my doorstep this one, a nice race, with some good hills.
Better still it starts and finishes at a pub!
Won't be doing it though, I don't run on roads and I'm injured

There is a climb straight from the start then a descent into Brinscall then you do a loop which takes in Abbey Village and contains 2 or 3 more climbs. When you get back to Brinscall you do the first mile and a half or so in the reverse direction finishing outside the pub.
It used to be a very precise 8 miles 781 yards

All being well I'll be there.
It's the end of our Club Championship and as unbelievable as it sounds, I am actually a contender:eek:
Mainly becuase Messrs, Fish, Cornthwaite, Guinan, Nuttal etc have bigger fish to fry.
But I'm sure I'll get pipped by somebody - my moneys on an up and coming runner called Gary Pearse. Watch for him on the fells - he's pretty good you know. Sub 4 on his 1st 3 Peaks and couldn't train for 6 weeks up to the race due to shin splints.
Watch the climb from Junction 3 of the M65. It's not tough on the face of it, but in the context of the race it's murder, and when you turn left off the main road and think the downhill is coming, you have a shock, about another km to go and still uphill!
It's a fell runner's road race alright. Not much flat stuff in there,
