Anybody else do this race tonight? I'm suprised I haven't heard of it before this year, it's got quite a prestigious history. It's a measured uphill road mile with 550 feet of climb. Pike timed his run to perfection to take the win in 7:04 (he was gutted not to break 7!). I trotted up in 7:45 for 7th but I'm just pleased to be racing properly again 2 weeks back into my training for the fell season.
I did it a couple of times 18 od years ago when I was at Manchester Uni. It was a big event then multiple races in different cattagories, getting on for 1000 people all told. If you were organised you could do it somthing like 5 times.... Once was enough for me... There was serious cash on offer especialy for a record, a 4 figure sum if I remember correctly.

Was it any better organised this year?
They had a lot of entries on the day which kept them busy, but organisation generally was very good. I think they would benefit from a professional race results service which could be dishing out printed results within minutes of each race, and remove what for them is the major headache on the night, but that's the only area they could improve. Results were on display up on a screen, and I expect will be published on their web site later this week.Quote:

Yes I am, but after doing the 3 Peaks fell race on Sunday I'm not setting my expectations too high. But for the next 5 days I will enjoy ownership of both the Murder and Killer mile trophies. :)Quote:
