I've found this thread - http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...792-Age-limits which deals with junior categories but how are the adult age categories worked out? Is it use the age at 1st Jan for the whole year or age on day of the race?

All adult categories are age-on-day. This also applies to the junior distance limits (age-on-day), though various Juniors Championships age-groups are worked out using 1st Jan
Ta. So how does it work in the championship series if your birthday falls between races and as a consequence you change category, say from open to vet 40?
You never stop qualifying in lower categories. Take 2011, Lloyd Taggart was English Open and V40 champion.
Often, people are V40 for 2 or 3 of the races after their birthday, but not enough races to go for the title that year
Very different abroad, where people are often surprised to find their age on 31st Dec is used and they're unexpectedly a vet!
Can anybody confirm that the post above is still correct?
eg if a runner moves up to V40 midway through a championship season, then only their races after their birthday count in their new category...?
It appears from reading the FRA handbook that this is indeed the case, but thought i'd check due to the vast amount of wisdom on here :D
