Just watched a DVD the other day showing Colin Donnelly record run on the 14 peaks which still stands so I am told. Is he still running and do people speak of him like Joss Naylor and Eric Beard ???
The bit where he runs down Crib Goch into Cwm Glas is stunning.

In a continuum of greats, Colin would certainly more than justify his place. His stalking of Rod Pilbeam on the British championship race on Moel Hebog is a classic tale of using all elements to beat your competitor. Colin outthought Rod and ultimately got the lead in the race by exploiting 2 of Rods weaknesses, his less than perfect sense of direction and lack of outright speed on rough descents....so Colin deliberately led him off course into nasty rough stuff on the descent. Colins speed in such circumstances was unbeatable.
Just watching him run down Crib Goch was awesome. I am no slouch on the hills myself (though only from a walking point of you !) but he is some dude and total respect to the guy though his knees must be f****d by now lol !
Annoyingly, Colin appears to be fresh as a daisy, still!. Like Kenny Stuart, he is tiny so he probably does not bash his joints to hell and back, unlike us carthorses!
