Clicking ankle after sprain
Right twisted my ankle on the 13th of march doing an edale recce
Rested for a week, tried running the outside of the ankle (where i went over) didnt hurt but the other side/heel/sole did-tendonitis and impingement.
Vut 5 weeks later ive still got a really clicky ankle-it almost matches my knees in the morning...is there any issue with this or is it just natural?
Re: Clicking ankle after sprai
Clicky noises often occur with tendinitis, and can occur for no reason anyway, something to do with the tendon moving in the sheath I think. I've had a clicky left ankle for as many years as I can remember without it causing any problems. I recently found out I have an old fracture there that has left a small fragment of bone floating around, might be something to do with the noise but not sure. If it's feeling good and not hurting I wouldn't waste any sleep over it mate.
Re: Clicking ankle after sprai
Tom, i recently had an injection in my wrist which didn't sort it out and it constantly sounds like a cement mixer. I'd consider it a symptom of a disturbance in the joint area, but tread carefully (no pun intended).
Re: Clicking ankle after sprai
Similarly to Rob F, I have had clicky ankles for as long as I can remember. Casting my mind back, my clickiest ankle is one that I sprained and chipped the bone of when I was about 17, but it generally seems fine.

Sounds like tendonitus to me TT esp if you trained extra hard over the last few months as tendons take a while to catch up. My ankles were cracking/crunching at the end of last year, they're much better now following some stretches my physio gave me. As Rob says it's to do with them going through the sheathes due to them bunching
Go see yours and get them checked.
