moving to uk what races to do?

hello moving to uk sometime early next year and was wondering what races are a must to do, i am a mtber turned runner done a few offroad halfs keen to train for something bigger.
will be living in whiltshire to start with any ideas on where to train there? all help welcome chears

Whereabouts in Wiltshire? I spent about 12 years round there and know a couple of clubs and most of the races. It's not especially hilly, open chalk downland and scarp slopes on the Marlborough Downs and Salisbury Plain.

hey Brotherton Lad will be staying with inlaws near chippinham but have friends in scotland so would love to run up there also

Google Chippenham Harriers, Marlborough Running Club, Devizes Running Club and Pewsey (PVRC). No fell races obviously, go to S Wales and South West for those. Hills around Marlborough and in the Cotswolds. Off road season coming to an end soon but plenty of road and trail races. Some of my favourites are:
Jan - Rough n Tumble 10.5, Slaughterford 9
Feb - The Terminator 11.5 PVRC
Mar - Cleevewold 14, Compton 20
Apr - Offa's Orror 12.5
May - Marlborough Downs 20 (or 33)
Jun - Ridgeway relay, Cotswold relay
Boxing Day - Kennet and Avon canal relay (or do the 25 mile yourself - includes the Caen Hill lock steps)
Summer is more road racing.

Im just down the road in Dorset but travel back Herefordshire most weekends but I am trying to do at least 1 decent long race a month (Apr - Oct ish) so can look at sharing car / travel costs, this may help to get to a few more events.

There is also the Dartmoor MM for a 2 day event if that is of interest.

thanks that would be great, we are just going thought the selling house shipping dogs nightmare so hopeing to be there just after christmas sometime looking forward to some new terrain and events!

Clarendon Way is a good 'un, and I would definitely recommend the Isle of Wight Fell Series in September. Anyone on this forum who hails from North of Derby would debate its status as a Fell event, but if you want 3 races over 2 days (short, medium and long - all steep), with a great atmosphere at a cost of £12 for three races, then you should enter.
