anyone had fractured kneecap?

Hi, I have a stress fracture of my kneecap (started in March, finally snapped at Fairfield race although I was marshalling at Nab Scar not running, because of undiagnosed knee pain).

I'm wondering if anyone out there has experience of this, in particular the recovery time I might expect. My surgeon (who didn't have to operate - yet) doesn't have fell runner experience so it's hard to tell what to expect.

I've been plastered up for 4 weeks and now wearing a leg brace to walk, however the kneecap was still clearly fractured when the plaster came off 11 days ago.

Any experience / stories would be useful...

I guess that's a 'no' then.

It's such a bummer to lose the whole spring and summer season. I might get the 'all clear' after the x-ray in 4 weeks time, but I don't hold out much hope for my fitness by then :thunbdown:
