As part of Aqua Consultants sponsorship of this year's 10 Peaks Challenge they have agreed to set up a check point/ aid station at the top of Scafell Pike! Obviously the highest check point in England. But does anyone know if an aid station has been located there before?
Borrowdale fell race has a check point on Scafell Pike, not sure whether it could be called an aid station though
Old County Tops has a check point there too
Don't know if it was an 'official' "aid station", but when I ran the Borrowdale in '85 it was "one of those days" - horizontal sleet for the entire race. I recorded an abysmal 4:45, but when I learnt that a lot of my mates ( all better runners than me ) had jacked out at either Esk Hause or Styhead ( due to the weather conditions and concerns about nav ) I didn't feel too bad. At Scafell Pike trig, a guy that I assumed to be a marshal had a big 'sac full of flasks. The cup of hot black currant cordial was absolute nectar in those conditions!Quote:

Not sure it counts but on Saturday on a leg 3 BGR recce we found the Army bivvying up on the top as a check point for Welbeck College (Army sixth form) doing a 3 peaks challenge.
Great Lakes race also has a checkpoint on Scafell Pike...
The answer appears to be a solid no then ;)
It sounds like a hot drink would go down well. I'm not sure if I can promise that though but we'll see what we can do.
