Dockray Fell Races - 2012
Just a quick update on this year's Dockray Races;
Yes, there is a an error in the calendar but it's not to do with the dates!
'Yes' there are two races this year; Dockray-Hartside (Weds 2nd May) and Dockray-Great Dodd (Weds 27th June). The first is the 'short' race that we've run for a few years and the second is a re-introduction of the Great Dodd horseshoe route which used to run many years ago, as the 'short' Dockray (c.10m) race.
The only error in the calendar is that the records of Ben Bardsley and Vicky Wilkinson are listed for both races, which is clearly wrong. And I'm not sure what the record times are far the 'Dockray' fell race so please let me know if you do. Both races are EOD only with prizes on offer for combined results.
Just to be clear - there was also a Dockray Hevellyn race (c.18m) which nearly made it into the Lakes Classic Trophy way back in 200?. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the longer race due to lack of help, and because 'Helvellyn' and 'Cafod Grisedale' also started using the summit of Helvellyn around the same year.
And finally, 'Yes' both these races still need some help, so please don't be shy .... free beer to those who do.

Did the Dockray - Hartside race tonight. First time I've done any of these races from Dockray and I really enjoyed it. Tough climbs, some rough pathless terrain and an absolute cracker of final descent make for a stiff little race. I shall definitely do some further exploring of these fells.
