I've long maintained, into a terrifying headwind of vitriol from any business types present, that AI is useless and Google is unreliable and full of anecdotes. Unless you are wanting to know the capital of Thailand, you need experienced human beings and a library.

I think you should be very grateful to DeepSeek for giving you ideas for the next two books that you are going to write. I look forward to reading your book about international mountain running, and even more so your account of a fictional running club in Lancashire. :p

Steve, your task of recording the truth of the fell running community has added importance. AI creates a synthetic truth which, whilst it may appear intially satisfactory, contains tiny inaccuarcies that eventually concatenate to produce an entirely different version of events.
For now, AI can be a great assistant in rapidly assembling an outline for a piece of work, but the 'facts' that are presented need rigorous checking. All power to you and all other authors who document our human existence. The future will need your efforts!
