Im at this tommora...done a few of these and its bloody hard running after only an hour out of bed.
Have fun!
Missed the Park Run this morning as I trained a little later. Freary won and Paul Simons 3rd.
Heaton Park need to address the issue of dogs not being on leads. I maybe wrong on this, but I thought it was not acceptable to have a dog in the park without an appropriate lead. The warden needs to be out issuing fines. They would have made a fortune this morning.

You had me going there for a minute - The P10 link takes you to last weeks result.
This weeks aren't up yet.
Where were the GM lads today at the Inter Counties?
Not sure about GM team. I wasn't on it. Decided not to do it as it would mean another week of reduced mileage in the build up to the VLM.
Steve Vernon was on the team but didn't start. Pete R pulled out somewhere in the race. Bond, Riddell and Bailey all finished.
Dave Norman doing a 20 mile race today, Tom Lancashire has been ill and not back in training so I presume it didn't fit with his plans. Just one of them things. The three that ran did ok. Riddell got a few scalps.
I have got an orienteering event at the University of Manchester Fallowfield campus at 10.30 on Saturday and might do the Parkrun on the way.
Is it feasible time wise to do the Parkrun then get to Fallowfield in time? Would the best way be to get back on the M60 to get there or try to plow through the middle of Manchester?
Cheers, i have registered and got my bar code. I presume i just turn up with that at the Lake Side cafe on Saturday.
Danbert - anymore news on Fergal 'Tergats' plans to become a race organiser:confused:
Il be down on the 27th for hopefully a sub 19 performance
I have only just noticed on the Parkrun website that there is one at Platt Fields on Saturday and as that is where the orienteering event is i will probably do that one.
I have registered and got my bar code so when i turn up on the day do i need to sign in somewhere?
No you show up and run. At the end you are given a token which you take, with your barcode to the results person at the end, they check your name and your done. Check the results later.
Just a nice sized turn out at Platt Fields this morning. We even had a bit of mud as well. Looking at the results there was a bit of a crowd at Heaton Park
I quite enjoyed Platt Fields today despite waking up at 8.05am and getting to the park at 8.50am.
I was first M60 and 4th out of 73 in the age-graded results (clutching at straws I know:))
Are you Richard Morris 22.15 ? If so, I finished 17 seconds behind you.
Heaton Park was the same day as the English Schools and I think some went to run and then stayed on for the XC races.
Noticed Danbert took the notable scalp of David Lewis:eek:
So you did it without breakfast? I ask because I have thought about doing a parkrun but can't get my head round what to do about eating. Bearing in mind I don't like getting up early (especially at a weekend), does one run on an empty stomach or try and eat something and then get a stitch? The parkruns are obviously v popular, so am I missing something?
Not sure about that Witton - but it looked like they were using electronic timing on Saturday.
I guess it's an organisers dilemma really isn't it?
Do you go for the new technology in an effort to get results up ASAP but then run the risk of coming across technological problems - or do you stay with the traditional but slower methods?
Couple of Red Bulls gets me round.........leave out the vodka though.
You shoud read some of the threads on eightlane.
John Schofield and Graham Fecitt are held in extremely high esteem. Graham used to have the major events (and still does where he is involved) on line before you got home on the evening of the race - all based on Manual.
Since they have moved to chip timing, more errors have crept in, and more delays.
Some notable events have taken 48 hours before you get a sniff of the results with chip timing.
They did use chip timing at the English Schools - and I think something went wrong in the distibution or something. As I say, the order of athletes seems has no relevance to the order in which they finished.
Lost my parkrun virginity today. Must say I was impressed with the organisation and the event as a whole.
Must agree with the above. These are great (free) low key events which are helping me to regain fitness.:) My times are slowly improving but still have some way to go to catch sight of Swoop or Danbert.:)
Good to see Swoop showing Danbert a clean pair of heel today :)
Nothing against Danbert mind you ;)
