Anniversary Waltz: photos
Three sets of photos of a great race ...
Firstly, everybody who was there must appear somewhere amongst the plethora of cracking photos on the Borrowdale site here.
And, secondly & thirdly, from a more personal perspective, I've put up two sets on my 'photo blog' site: one set courtesy of my good lady stationed near High Spy and the other set I took whilst running the race.
:)

Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
Some excellent pics there.
Do the ones from the Borrowdale site belong to you?
Just wondering if I could use some on the Lostock website?
Thanks

No, but there's an email link at the top of this page to the guy who takes these superb photos.

Great photo's though:)

Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
Obviously a cameraman with good taste - he just about got my elbow & not much more.
Can't believe he missed Emmilou, though.

Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
I'm on one of the Borrowdale ones....but not looking at my best:eek:
As for topofahill's photos, I have a feeling that they were taken at a point which those of us who took a "shortcut" didn't pass:rolleyes:

No I think they were taken at random and chunks of the field missed.

On the second one Emma's only just behind the lead!:D
My avatar shows me about to have a "High Spy moment".:o
Luckily, like you, an "I spy moment" at the top of the hill got me back on track.:)

Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
Fellrunner showing some nice dance moves. (Already been Mudged by this stage).

Don't know how you managed to run and take photos. You must have a light weight camera.
Thanks millipede, glad you like them.
Just wanted to capture a bit more of the runner's view of the race as an experiment to supplement our 'spectator's' photos. Trying to compose a photo whilst picking through the boulder-strewn descent off Dalehead is not something I'd recommend to everyone and I think I was actually mid-air when the shutter went on one of the Catbell's photos ... but it was fun (in a loony sort of way) and hopefully it adds a bit more drama to the shot!
I do use a reasonably lightweight camera, however it's the full-size tripod that holds me back! :)

Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
How many forum members are on this photograph? And who can name them all?

Thanks for pointing that one out Geoff.

Well done Topofahill. Your photos show the racing better than any I have ever seen.
I sat at the foot of Robinson snapping and mine are crap....

Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
Have been trying to recognize the winning shoes. I think they are:
1. Mudclaw 270
2. Mudclaw 330
3. Mudclaw 330
4. Swoop
5. Mudclaw 330
but my eyesight isn't what it used to be!

Could you tell I hadn't washed that vest since my last race:eek:

I'm sure your pictures aren't that bad (although plenty of ours hit the bin!). I can't quite picture where you were positioned below Robinson, but if it was where runners started to split up, perhaps you'd have been better placed at some bottleneck higher up the fell where you could trap your photo prey?

I hope not! - I'm on 3 - including my appalling descent off catbells where I appear to be going completely the wrong way to everyone else!

I thought you looked a bit disorientated on top of Catbells dominion! - but at least your calf looked intact ;)
Anyway nice to see you again.
Incidentally, the Keswick guy on his last legs crawling up High Spy was quite ok after his fall - I'm glad I restricted my tumbling to some soft grassy bit near Dalehead tarn!
-
Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
It wasn't that I was disorientated - I was just trying to pick a better line (for me) than when I reccied it a couple of weeks back. I failed!

You can say that again. Even I was a minute faster on the run in Dom!
Mind you I bailed out before the rocks and slid down the left hand side of Cat Bells.

Re: Anniversary Waltz: photos
A good one of Sunnysideup 4819
I liked the 'on the run' photos, even though I was too far behind to be in any of them.
