and luvley clear blue skies
It has been a gorgeous clear day, I could see for miles on the tops, and the sun felt really warm this morning .... although i was going uphill at the time :D
Heard the first ice-cream van of Spring today. The first cuckoo can't be far off.
First creamo van of the year is right up there with first DofE kids 😉
Love it when someone resurrects an old thread.....but nearly always saddened to see who was posting back then.
Heard the first lawnmower of Spring today. And there's a cricket match being played on the ground on the other side of the road from my office. Spring has definitely arrived!
Seconded
It’s acoming certainly in context of the natural world - birds locally have been very vocal recently, bulbs are coming up, nights definitely drawing out and one of my favourite sightings: rooks renovating rookeries around the area
First snowdrops sighted on yesterday's dog walk. Birds are definitely more active and have seen deer more often than normal over the last 2 weeks.
Nice one Pete
Mistletoe thrush heard on this morning’s run
My snowdrops are now fabulous. Still ffffff freezing though!
Just got back from a run.
A young roe deer buck crossed my path earlier. Admittedly it was a quiet, rarely used footpath but rare to see them out and about mid-morning.
Spied some very busy jays, more snowdrops and in the woods, the first shoots of bluebells poking their heads through the fallen leaves. Made what was otherwise a rather lacklustre run quite enjoyable.
We just moved house on Friday and were wondering what sort of birds we might get visiting our rural garden. We'd barely been in the house half an hour when a Mistle Thrush landed on the kitchen windowsill, had a quick look inside and then flew off into a nearby holly tree. So that was a nice start!Quote:

Is it Mole Rutting season yet??!
Bloody COLD this morning. Think winter is on it's way.
I usually leave work early on a Friday and go for a run over my local hills on the way home. Managed 10km tonight without a head torch and still light at 5.00 when I got back to the car. 12 degrees C (and I know it won't last) but a least a taste of warmer, lighter times to come.
The S.O. and I were at a local garden centre this morning when 3 skeins of very vocal geese flew over .... heading NW.
Pink footed geese moving feeding grounds ‘mid-winter’. One of the great wildlife sights Ian! The lads who watch the skies regularly round Queensbury had 2,000 + the other morning
Very tasty too!
Still cold and snow to come.
A lone daffodil at a remote derelict farmhouse.
Nice morning but hell of a wind chill factor.
^ fantastic Moley
F F F F Freezing! But, like Moley, I was lucky enough to see the first shoots of the daffodils pushing their way towards the sun. Unfortunately not in the same Byronic location as Mr Mole but in the rather more prosaic environs of our local rugby pitches!
My daffodil was out in full bloom, ready to kick start Wales 6 nations campaign on Friday. I may have to pick it and take down the pub for kick-off.
I am sure Stagger will also be in full bloom as he excitedly settles down to watch France v Wales on Friday. I wonder who he will be shouting for as I don't think he is very fond of the French!
Wales every time.
If not them Ireland.
3rd england
4th Italy
5th France
6th Scotland
Codheads derby on my box Friday.
Summer rugby starts THIS THURSDAY Saints v Wigan.
Must have missed spring 🤣😂
Snowing, and Laying, so much for spring :(
Snake’s closed
A lone daffodil in South Staffordshire this morning.
7 big yellow ones out today while I was hoeing the boarders.
Looks nice with snow drops and daff's.
Tulips are pushing up too. Bit early for them though.
A few crocuses out today.
